MINDFUL SELF-REFLECTION

  • Once we understand how systems of oppression work broadly, and on a more micro scale within our workplaces, time must be taken to reflect on our individual roles within these systems. Without this piece, inclusion efforts often end up short-lived and lack the necessary action-oriented empathy from those who carry the power and privilege within the organization.

  • We're not talking co-opted versions of mindfulness that encourage brief self-reflection in an effort to increase productivity, but instead a holistic approach to deep introspection about privilege and oppression that intentionally incorporates a robust understanding of power and the ways in which it operates systemically.
